Merry & Bright Etcetera Tag

Welcome back my lovely crafty friends!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas around here. I took a break from cardmaking and made this decor item using a medium Etcetera tag.

~ The finished project ~

I began with a medium Etcetera Tag and the Christmas Paper Stash.

I chose several different patterns of paper and trimmed them down to make a patchwork on my tag. I used matte medium to adhere my paper to the tag & trimmed off the excess. I then used my sanding block to distress the edges and peel off bits of the paper. 

I used my Distress Crayons - Black Soot, Vintage Photo & Walnut Stain - to go around the edges, of the tag and the pieces of paper.

Next I added some Antiqued Bronze Distress Crayon - this added just a bit of shimmer.

To complete my tag - I added some Festive Paper Dolls, Christmas Quote Chips, 

Christmas Clippings Stickers,

Halloween + Etc Tag

Hello! I am so happy to be sharing a Halloween project that has been published in the 

Fall issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine. 

I started with a small Ecetera tag that I had painted with gesso +and applied molding paste through the woodgrain stencil. (Sorry no pics).

Once the paint/molding paste was completely dry I used Distress Paints in various brown tones: Ground Espresso,Vintage Photo, Black Soot & Walnut Stain.
I dry brushed over the surface of the tag until I was happy with it. To finished off the tag I added some script stamping with Archival Ink in Potting Soil

To create my focal point I first took a piece of watercolor paper and Distress Oxide Inks in Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber & Vintage Photo.

I used the largest die from the Stitched Rectangle Thinlit die set to die cut out my background frame.

The image of the 4 boys holding the pumpkins is from the Found Relatives Occasions set from Tim Holtz Idea-logy. I gave it a very light sanding to add some distress, coloured the pumpkins with my Spiced Marmalade Distress Marker and added some Ground Espresso ink with my Tim Holtz Spritzer Tool.

It was time to start assembling my tag!

I stamped some pumpkins on the scraps of Distress Oxide watercolor paper I had leftover and layered these over the Twisted Edge die cut.  A page torn out of an old book that I inked up and stamped a spider on made a another layer. I added some Halloween Rub-Ons to my tag as well.

I found this pumpkin in my stash - its from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Oddities & Charms set that made the perfect addition to my  focal image. All I did was use my Spiced Marmalade Distress Crayon to add some colour.

I'm here to share yet another Etc tag. I love these! LOVE!

Here is one I made using the medium size tag -

The tag I have to share with you today is using the large Etcetera Tag.

The first thing I did was paint my tag with white gesso then set it aside while I 

worked on my focal point piece.

I started with a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Cabinet Card frame. I carefully opened it up and removed the front frame part from the back.

I used the smoosh technique to add some Distress Oxides ink to the inside of the back piece.
(not shown in photo - I smooshed the front frame into the left over ink to add some splotches to it)

Then used some Distress Ink & the Ornate Layering stencil with the stencil monoprint technique to add some interest over the Distress Oxide.

I added my Paper Doll parents to the background with some foam dots then added the frame

 with 2 layers of foam tape. To finish off the edges of my frame I cut strips off the packaging insert from a layering stencil and adhered them with tacky tape.

The gesso is now dry on the tag so its time to start adding my paint. I chose to use Pomegranate Seed & Black Marble Dylusions Paint for this. First I applied the Pomegranate Seed with a
dry brush. I then applied the black with a brayer. Once the paint was dry I used a sanding
block to distress the edges a bit.

Taking the same Ornate Stencil that I used on my cabinet card frame, I applied the some Picket Fence Distress Ink in a few spots on the tag. I also added some script stamping with black Archival Ink.

My next step was to mix some Distress grit paste with some Peeled Paint Distress Oxide.

I applied this through the Floral Layering Stencil on to the tag. Once the green grit paste dried I decided to add another layer of grit paste in a contrasting colour - this was Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink.

I assembled my focal point with my 3D cabinet card frame and various pieces of ephemera from my stash. 

I still wasn't happy with the edge of my cabinet card frame so I added some 

jute twine with a bit of hot glue. 

I used a couple of metal embellishments that I found in stash to cover the hole in the tag.

Rooted Love

Hello friends!

Have you heard about Wild Whisper? They are Canadian company that designs paper collections for crafters. They also carry coordinating boutique items for their collections including stamps sets, wood veneer, sequins, chipboard, cork & embossing powders. 

I recently bought the Rooted Love paper collection and journal cards from the lovely ladies at Wild Whisper and could NOT wait before I got creative with it.

I chose a medium Etcetera thickboard tag from Stampers Anonymous & the large bride & groom from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Paper Dolls collection.

I started by painting some gesso over the tag then applying some molding paste through the Heartstruck Layering Stencil from Stampers Anonymous.

Next I began applying Distress Oxides in Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint, Faded Jeans & Worn Lipstick with a water pen & Distress Stain in Aged Mahogany.

 I gathered up a few journal cards from the Rooted Love collection and grunged them up with Distress inks & oxides.

I trimmed up some of the journal cards so that the images were isolated before I grunged them up.

Lastly I added the happy couple from the paper dolls.
