Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, my crafty friends!
I'm here to share my December and final Technique Remix tag for 2016.
Click on the pic below to check out Tim's tag.

It's been a wonderful year of combining techniques in new ways & this month was no exception.

I decided to use Prima Color Bloom Sprays in Pressed Petal & Deep Teal with the Holiday Knit Layering Stencil.

I used the Stitched Rectangles die set from Sizzix to make a few 'tiles' for my tag.

Here is finished tag - all ready to join its 11 friends.

Selfie.....Technique Remix Tag for November

November is quickly coming to a close so I made some time to get my Technique Remix tag done.
This month's technique remix is a combo of rub resist & dimensional coloring.
Click on the pic below to see Tim Holtz's tag.

Here is my version -

Remnant Rubs are pretty cool & I need to use them more - especially with this resist technique.

I chose 3 colours of Distress Stains for my tag - Wild Honey, Seedless Preserves & Rusty Hinge.
I decided to ink the edges with Wilted Violet & Ground Espresso.

For my focal image I went with a stamp from Brett Weldele. These steampunk gentlemen are so cool!
I watercoloured my image with Distress Inks then fussy cut it out. I inked the edges with Ground Espresso & Black Soot.

Beware.....Tim Tag Remix October

Hello and Happy Halloween!
It is time for another Technique Remix Tag.
This month Tim used the patchwork collage & Sizzix Monster.
Click on the photo to see Tim's finished tag for inspiration.

I didn't own the Monster die from Sizzix last year and guess what! I still don't.
That's ok - improvising is fun & part of the creative process.

Here is my finished tag -

I started by collaging some scraps I had of Halloween paper in my stash.
It felt really good using these up so I decided that when I finish a project I will glue down the scraps of paper down on a tag when I'm done. These will be perfect for card backgrounds.
Once my pieces were adhered down I added some crazing medium and let this dry completely before moving on to the next step.

To finish the background I added some Black Soot Distress Crayon & splatters.

I added in a skull that I had cut out of some scrap to the small charm with some crackle adhesive. When this was dry I rubbed some Black Soot Distress Crayon over the cracks to grunge it up.

I dyed some ribbon with Carved Pumpkin Distress Stain and added some Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Instead of the Monster - I decided to use the Apothecary Bottle die from Sizzix.
I used the Metallic Kraft-Core Distress paper from Ranger and a couple embossing folders.
I added some Black Soot Distress Paint over the embossing and some Black Soot Distress Crayon around the edges to grunge it up.

With all my pieces done it was time to assemble my tag.

Friends - Tim Tag....September

It's time for more Technique Remix fun with Tim Holtz!

This month the challenge was to combine Paint Patina & Alcohol Ink Resist.

Check out Tim's tag inspiration & step by step instructions here.

Here is my finished tag -

As soon as I saw this months tag I knew I wanted to use this stamp from the Sideshow set from Stampers Anonymous and the Banksy Man on Bicycle from Viva Las VegaStamps.

I started by making a couple of backgrounds using the Paint Patina technique.

The next technique - alcohol ink resist on yupo - was intriguing and I finally got this result after about six attempts and several different combinations of alcohol ink colours.

I stamped my Banksy Man & "Friends" sentiment with Black Archival ink and my tag was done!

Technique Remix Time - August

I can't believe it's been a month since my last blog post! It's been a great summer but now it's time to get back in the craft room. Before I start working on Creative Chemistry 103 I wanted to get my tag for Tim's Technique Remix Challenge for August done.

Check out Tim Holtz's Tag here.

Here is my take - I decided to go for a shabby garden look.

Before I did the Brayered Stain technique I stamped an image from the Mixed Media 2 stamp set from Stampers Anonymous. I used Old Paper Distress Paint to stamp it on to my tag.

I chose 3 Distress Stains to brayer on to my tag next - Victorian Velvet, Bundled Sage & Spun Sugar.

I just love how the Distress Paint stamped image resists the stain.

Before adding my elements I used my round blending tool to add some Bundled Sage Distress Ink to my tag. I forgot to take a photo of that step.

I used the Lattice Framework Die for the next technique. I die cut using chipboard for the main part and some pattern paper, cork & canvas for the insets.

My flowers were made by layering two die cuts (one cardstock & one patterned paper) from the Tiny Tattered Florals set. I like the fuller look of the flower that this gives me.

I adhered a sentiment from the Casual Talk sticker pack before layering my Tint Tattered Floral over some Garden Greens die cut.

The theme for my take was inspired by the Shabby Garden Mood Board over at the Anything But Cute challenge blog. The mood board reminded of my grandma's garden on the farm but especially her lovely pink roses.

Tim Technique Remix - July

It;s time to share my take on this month's 12 Tags of 2016 Technique Remix from Tim Holtz.
Instead of going with a travel theme like Tim I decided to pay homage to my favourite summer drink - the Green Tea Frappuccino from Starbucks. Soooo yummy!

Here is my finished tag -

First, I gathered up all my supplies and stamped my frappuccino image on
so watercolor paper.

I love using my Distress Markers to watercolor - they are so amazing!

I used my new Dylusions Black Painter Pen to add some details to the edge because I was too lazy to drag out and set up and sewing machine. ;)

My sentiment is 'happy moments' - die cut using the Happy Holiday & Friends Thinlit die sets.
